So… here’s what the bathroom USED to look like:
Clawfoot tub, white wood floors, lots of streaming light from a big (but not well functioning) window…
Although the flow was really tight between the toilet & tub…

there was this awesome old old old tile wainscot & wood board on the upper walls and ceiling… and a clawfoot tub with a shower attachment
But right away we knew this little sink wasn’t going to work for us in the long term… we need s p a c e to both get ready in the AM! You may remember we sold this cutie on craigslist to put towards our new vanity.
The tub was stuck between the wall and a radiator, partially under the window. There was also a “step” up into the bathroom due to the thickness of the wood floor (which at the time baffled us… wood? in a bathroom? okay..)
When we first starting planning, before we even settled on the house but after we drafted the floor plans ;), we had few immediate plans for the room. Of course we had “BIG IDEAS” about ripping it all out and replacing it with a big euro shower room, but in reality, all we were going to do before move in day was take out the sink & put in an antique piece of furniture with a vessel sink. Of course this DIY sink would have to be skinny enough to fit between the toilet & wall and still not really as big as we wanted, but we were willing to live with it, weird skinny circulation and all. By the way at this point we LOVED the tile and thought the clawfoot tub was super Cool.
Stay tuned for PART II
