Tips For Tiling With Patterns

Before you lay a single tile, you’ll need to create a layout system method that works for you and your space. For us, it helped to first find the center lines of the room and move individual accent tiles and sheets of tile around until we found a pattern we liked. Then we filled in this pattern key on a blank autocad drawing of to-scale hex tiles.

Once we determined the typical field (white) tile sheet size, we drew the outlines of the sheets and labeled each section. This made it much easier to pop out the white tiles where the accent colors go in and cut the sheets where necessary. All the sheets were labeled and stacked in order, and we used the key to determine which accent colors went where as we laid the tile.

All the prep was time consuming but worth it, because it made for a very quick and smooth install- just under 5 hours!

We'd love to hear from you!
