Rob and I went to a meeting the other night which revealed the results of the Pine / Spruce Pilot Bike lane project- the deputy mayor is recommending the bike lanes be incorporated when the streets are repaved next year! If (when) this recommendation is accepted, this means our round trip bike commute will be 80% on dedicated bike lanes! The crowd was overwhelmingly bikers and lane supporters which was a change since the last meeting- lots of negativity. So far the bike traffic has doubled on the lanes while the amount and speed of traffic hasn’t been reduced (so no traffic jams) yet the fastest speeds on the road have been reduced which is good for everyone. All positives, no negatives!
