A month or so ago I happened across a silverplate champagne bucket, from around the time our house was built in the late 1800’s, listed on eBay. I was immediately drawn to the crest and other intricacies, so I did some research and checked prices on brand new buckets (with considerable less charm) and finally decided it was The One. I won’t get into all the heart pounding details (never having bid before, I had no idea how crazy it gets on eBay!) but needless to say, I had the winning bid:

We received it in the mail just in time for a celebratory birthday dinner the week before last, and it seems to work just perfectly:

The handle is fantastic for carrying up the stairs a few flights:
