I marked out the hinge locations

Then attached our handy router template. This is an adjustable template so you can use it with multiple hinge and door sizes.

The recess is routed, corners squared, and hinge test fitted.

A good tip to make sure your hinges align is to mount the hinges to the frame and place the door into the opening to accurately mark the hinge locations on the door. This is what we did.

Next up… prep the door. It’s the same drill: mount template, route recess…
