This has nothing to do with our house or even immediate neighborhood – but wow am I excited about it- a PARIS STREET FESTIVAL on Saturday!
Date: Saturday, April 30
11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
The first-ever Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts (PIFA) is taking over the city’s art scene over 25 days featuring 135 events and over 1,500 artists (April 7 – May 1). Gaining inspiration from the creative atmosphere in Paris over a century ago, Philadelphia is transforming into a 21st Century City of Light with incredible art, music, dance, performance, food, fashion and more.
The celebration reaches a fever pitch with PIFA’s marquis event, a massive Street Fair on the Avenue of the Arts. Broad Street from Chestnut to Lombard will be taken over by a Parisian-inspired street festival, complete with a giant Ferris Wheel, on Saturday, April 30.
Roving street performers, over 100 vendors, craftsmen and exhibitors will provide entertainment throughout the day. Visitors enjoy a garden park in front of the Doubletree Hotel complete with café seating. There will also be two stages set up for live music, including performances from Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings and the Watcha Clan. The Broad Street Fair will come to a close with a breathtaking show from France’s La Compagnie Transe Express, who will perform suspended 100-feet above the crowd.
