We are trying to decide what to do in the bathroom… there is existing wall tile that is off-white with crackle finish, but it’s only on 2 1/2 of the 4 walls… there is some extra tile in the basement that came with the house, but not nearly enough to finish tiling. Plus the wall tile is probably 100 years old and therefore is an unusual size for 2009- 2″x6″. This leaves us with a few options, none of which are really jumping at us right now. Which is unfortunate because it is going to be VERY difficult to tile the wall once we install the clawfoot tub!
Our current order of preference:
1- Buy some vintage-esque, crackle tile in 2×6 (and brighter white)… but that won’t be shipped until December 8
2- Buy some vintage, unused crackle tile in 2×6 (and almost same color, and made by the same manufacturer as the rest of our tile) from a salvage place in New Jersey for more money, but we could go pick up this weekend
3- Do nothing & live with exposed insulation for a few months until we decide what to do
4- Buy some crackle tile in another size that could be here in a few days
5- Use what we have to patch, put drywall everywhere else (which is what was there before)
6- Take out all the wall tile and start over.
Hmm… this photo is Option 1

Nice article and a cool idea for your period look. I hope it turns out the way you want. Best of luck!
